We believe that children are a vital part of God’s mission and at Storehouse McAllen we desire to come alongside of parents as they disciple and develop their children to the glory of God. During our Sunday worship gathering, our children’s ministry walks through age appropriate activities and Bible study as they encounter Jesus and become His disciples.
Storehouse Kids is from 3 months (nursery) to elementary (5th grade); an opportunity for every child to participate and grow in the knowledge, love, and worship of Jesus. Additionally, for Storehouse Kids, security is also of the utmost importance on Sunday’s. We have a check-in and check-out system that allows parents to drop off and pick up their kids. Each team member must first go through training before serving in one of our classrooms. This includes a background check (re-checked every 3 years), sexual abuse training, and training on Storehouse Kids policies and procedures. We also seek to adhere to current Ministry Safe worker-to-child ratios for each of our classrooms. Alongside of our leaders and volunteers, there is at least one member of our safety team assigned to the Storehouse Kids area at all times.
We provide safe, nurturing, clean, and efficient care for your infant while communicating gospel truths at an age-appropriate level through prayer, song, and reading the Word. Nursing mothers are also welcome to use our nursery space as needed during service.
We continue to build upon the basic truths of the gospel. At this level, children are introduced to age-appropriate activities that complement the weekly teaching in a fun and safe way.
We further teach basic truths of the gospel in greater depth. At this level, children are introduced to worship songs and interactive activities that complement the weekly teaching.
We engage your children on a deeper level, helping them grow in their knowledge of the Bible and understand how God’s story of redemption relates to them. Though we give a focus on memorization, the intent is to engage in discussion that helps your children understand practical application of gospel truths.
The New City Catechism
We now utilize the New City Catechism. A catechism is a tool to teach the church rich theology, centering on the Good News of the Gospel. New City Catechism is comprised of only 52 questions and answers. There is one question and answer for each week of the year, making it simple to fit into calendars and achievable even for people with demanding schedules. There is also an accompanying verse each week. It is a joint adult and children's catechism. In other words, the same questions are asked of both children and adults, and the children's answer is always part of the adult answer. Lastly, other tools are included with the catechism such as corresponding prayers, videos and commentaries for adults, and songs for children.
